Grants are now available for community groups looking to stage events for the festive season and for decorations for the Fraser Coast’s smaller townships.
With less than 150 days until Christmas, planning was well underway among many organisations to celebrate the Christmas and New Year’s period and the Fraser Coast council has a number of grants that can help groups get funding.
“Changes to the guidelines that were introduced to make it easier for groups to gain a grant in recognition of the effects of COVID-19 have been maintained,” Councillor Paul Truscott said.
“In recognition that fundraising efforts have been hampered and membership numbers may have declined because of COVID-19, council has lowered the amount of cash or in-kind contribution a group has to put towards a project to qualify for a grant.
“We want to make sure clubs, groups and communities continue to function and provide the range of events and facilities that make the Fraser Coast such a vibrant, fun and safe community.”
Grants opening in August:
• Community Events – Round 1 opens 13 August, closes 17 September;
• Community Festive (Christmas and New Year’s Eve) – Opens 13 August, closes 17 September;
• Small Township Festive Decorations – Opens 13 August, closes 17 September;
• Community Environment – Opens 16 August, closes 27 May 2022;
• Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance – Opens 27 August, closes 24 September.
The council’s Community Grants officer is available to assist groups to develop and submit applications to the Community Grants Program.
