Go Fund Me campaign launched after Alana Martin allegedly murdered

A heartbreaking plea to help four brothers “say goodbye” to their mum following her alleged murder has been issued as loved ones rally around the schoolboys.

Days after Alana Martin was allegedly murdered by her former partner, the community is throwing its support behind her four young sons.

Her sister, Megan Smart, has started a GoFundMe campaign in the wake of the tragedy.

The 30-year-old was found dead at the home in Owanyilla on the Fraser Coast after Daniel Noel Holm handed himself in to Maryborough police station.

Mr Holm, 43, faced Maryborough Magistrates Court briefly on Monday, appearing via videolink.

He was charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence), his case adjourned until March 25, 2024, and he was remanded in custody.

Police have not revealed how Ms Martin, who just last week was posting back-to-school pictures with her boys on Facebook, was killed but said she was found dead in the home.

“As we deal with the heartache and shock, our priorities lay with the devastated boys,” Ms Smart wrote.

“These poor kids have been through so much and right now we want the boys to feel loved and safe and any little bit of help to get them settled into new living arrangements as comfortably and smoothly as possible would help immensely, on top of that getting them home to say goodbye and lay their caring, loving mother to rest in the arms of family is of outmost importance.

“We don’t want the family to be thinking about the cost they shouldn’t be dealing with this on top of what they are already dealing with.

“We would like to thank everyone for the caring messages and any help would be greatly appreciated.”

So far $2470 has been raised against a target of $25,000.

In the wake of the tragedy, tributes have poured in for the mum of four from shattered friends and loved ones, and a shocked community.

“Our last words to each other was stay safe,” Stacey Burns wrote in a post.

“Fly high beautiful.”

Avril Whitehouse wrote that her heart broke for Alana and her family.

Beccy Davis said she was lost for words.

“You were a beautiful person Alana,” she wrote.

“I’m so sorry this happened.

“Fly high gorgeous … forever remembered.”
