Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a horror truck and car crash that closed the Bruce Hwy south of Maryborough.
A man was fighting for life after being involved in the crash in Glenorchy, south of Maryborough at 7.40am on Sunday, November 9.
Two fire crews attended the scene with one vehicle off the road and an occupant trapped, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman said.
The occupant was freed about 9am and was flown to hospital in a life-threatening condition, a Queensland Police Service spokesman said.
The police spokesman said both lanes of the Bruce Hwy were closed between Seven Mile Rd and Six Mile Rd and would not open for several hours.
Diversions were in place at Five Mile Rd, however the road reopened just before 3pm.
The man who has been freed is in his 30s and is suffering significant and potentially life-threatening abdominal, pelvic and leg injuries, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.
The QAS spokesman said the truck driver, a man also in his 30s, had suffered minor injuries.
In another incident in the Hervey Bay region overnight, a patient was treated for burns after a gas bottle fire in Urangan, Hervey Bay.
The incident occurred at a private address at 7.22pm, Saturday, November 8, a paramedic spokesman said.
The paramedic spokesman said one person was looked over and had minor burns but was not taken to hospital.
One fire crew attended the scene and extinguished the blaze within five minutes of arrival, a fire spokesman said.
