ONE of the Fraser Coast's most prestigious black tie events is on again with the Forget Me Not Ball set down for June 4 at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
ONE of the Fraser Coast’s most prestigious black tie events is on again with the Forget Me Not Ball set down for June 4 at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island.
The gala event was a huge success last year with its Bollywood inspired theme and generous patrons contributing to raise $171,000 for the Forget Me Not charity.
The charity looks after 60 young children in Nepal and recently expanded by buying almost 3ha of land.
Development plans for the site include quarters for 10 volunteers and a two-storey administration centre with medical centre and training centre.
Founder of the children’s home, Hervey Bay man Lars Olsen, decided to establish the orphanage after working in Nepal as a volunteer.
He was later awarded the title of Young Queenslander of the Year for his work.
This year’s event will begin with a cruise from the Urangan Marina to Fraser Island aboard the Spirit of Hervey Bay. The boat will depart the marina at 4.30pm and return at 11.45pm.
Entertainment on the night will be provided by rocker Jon Stevens from Noiseworks.
