A funeral will be held for a beloved father-of-two who tragically died in a Maryborough motel room earlier this month.
Tyeson Mackie, 27, was found in a critical condition at the Carriers Arms Motel on June 3 and could not be revived.
In the days since his death, there has been an outpouring of grief from the Maryborough community, with many paying tribute to their beloved friend.
His death would be examined by the state coroner, a police spokeswoman said.
In the aftermath of his death, close friend Teleah Matthews paid tribute.
She first met Tyeson Mackie at his 15th birthday party when she was 14 years old, and the pair soon became a couple.
While they later drifted apart romantically, they maintained and grew a strong and supportive friendship.
“Tyeson was a very family oriented person. It was very important to him, and he spent a lot of time with those he loved,” Teleah said.
“His personality was something everyone gravitated towards, which is why he had so many dear friends. He was the life of the party and loyalty was just one of his many great attributes.
“I always said to him he has such a kind heart and he deserves the best in life. I know he was passionate about MMA and wanted to get back into it again.”
His brother Lachie Mackie paid tribute to “my role model and also my best friend”.
“I’m so f------ lost for words. This is not meant to be,” Lachie posted to Facebook.
“I love you so much, my brother. I thank you for everything you have taught me in life, the good and the bad!
“Never in my life (have) I pictured this to happen. It’s so unfair. I have so much I just want to talk to you about.”
He said Mr Mackie’s two young children would be “forever protected”.
The funeral for Mr Mackie will be held at the Heritage Chapel at Maryborough Crematorim on Tuesday, June 13, from 1pm.
