VISITORS to Fraser Island can expect to see more hairy creatures than usual this month with 38 workers getting into the spirit of Movember.

'Before' photos of the clean-shaven men, who work for Kingfisher, Eurong Beach Resort, Fraser Island Barges, Cool Dingo and Fraser Explorer Tours, have been posted on Kingfisher's Facebook site.

The company will post weekly progress reports on its "mo bros", including resort general manager Warwick Kahl and group general manager David Hay, as the fundraisers primp and preen their tiny spiky facial sproutings.

Mr Kahl, said the resort traditionally sponsored environmental charities such as the Australian Marine Conservation Society but, as one of the largest employer's on the Fraser Coast, had decided to support Movember to remind their male staff members of the importance of early detection and diagnosis when it came to health.

"We'll start with clean shaven faces and over the course of the month will groom, trim and wax and hopefully grow some impressive moustaches and even more impressive fundraising balances," he said.

Mr Kahl said his team of hirsute hair growers took their task seriously had even jumped online to seek advice from the world's longest moustache grower, Ram Singh Chauhan of India.

According to news.yahoo.com, Mr Chauhan sports a whopping 4.2m long mo and his major tip to success was to groom regularly.

"Apparently he massages his moustache with coconut oil and gets his wife to wash it every ten days - so we'll endeavour to do the same," Mr Kahl joked.

Funds raised over the month will be directed to programs run by Movember and their men's health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue: the national depression initiative.
