Fraser Island man wins $3.2 million on Keno

A Fraser Coast woman became physically sick when she found out how many millions her husband had won on Keno.

A Fraser Island man has won $3.2 million on Keno while on holidays.

The man was on vacation in Emu Park when he won the massive prize.

The overjoyed winner plans to use his prize to buy a motorhome, travel around Australia and help his family.

His winning entry was purchased at Pine Beach Hotel Motel, 3-5 Granville Street, Emu Park.

Speaking with an official from Keno, the elated winner admitted he was still coming to terms with the life-changing news.

“We’ve been on holiday visiting family, and so we just went to the pub for a bite to eat with them,” he said.

“I wasn’t there when the draw happened. I only found out someone had won the 10 Spot Keno prize because I saw a post on Facebook about it.

“I just kept thinking, ‘No way, it wouldn’t be me’. But my family convinced me to check my ticket, so I did.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw I’d won. I gasped, ‘Oh my gosh. The Keno gods have delivered’. It was exciting as hell.

“It’s a s —t ton of money. It’s life-changing.

“I called my siblings to break the news, and I said to each of them, ‘Now, who’s your favourite brother?’. Luckily, they all answered correctly!

“When I told my wife, she was so shocked that she became physically sick. She made the decision to stay home in bed, but the rest of us went on a pub crawl to celebrate.

The overjoyed Keno winner plans to use his prize to buy a motorhome, travel around Australia and help his family.

“I’ve decided that I want to keep working. Otherwise, I’ll get bored. But it’ll be nice to know I can retire whenever I want.

“We will get a motorhome and travel around Australia for longer periods. But when we eventually retire, we’ll devote all our time to travelling and spending time with our family.

“The rest of the money we’ll use to spoil the family.”

Pine Beach Hotel Motel venue manager Keith Jackson said the entire team was blown away by the win.

“We are stoked,” he said.

“It’s so exciting to know such a massive win has come to Emu Park.

“The winner came back to share the news with us, and he was over the moon.

“The win couldn’t have gone to a more deserving recipient. He was just lovely.

“We all have been celebrating the win alongside him. It’s just fantastic, and we couldn’t be happier for him.

“Everyone here at The Piney would love to congratulate our winner again. It’s not only a fantastic win for him and his family but also the venue and Emu Park.”

It comes as the search continues for the person who won $65,000 on Keno at a Maryborough hotel.

The lucky ticket was purchased at the Old Sydney Hotel in Richmond St last week.
