THE maintenance schedule of the Fraser Explorer tour buses has been defended after two incidents in a little more than a month.
This week, two people had to be airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital following an incident where a bus shifted off a jack as a tyre was being changed, while in October a bus caught on fire in mysterious circumstances.
Kingfisher Bay Resort group general manager David Hay said the two incidents were completely unrelated.
He said the incident this week occurred because another passanger got back on the bus as the tyre was being changed and caused the bus to shift, while the reasons behind the fire were still unknown.
"Our fleet of buses (four-wheel drive and courtesy) undergo comprehensive servicing and fault assessments on a scheduled basis," Mr Hay said.
