The Maryborough Wallaroos held a moment of silence ahead of their match in Bundaberg at the weekend in honour of the young player killed in a car crash last week.
Lachlan Lethbridge, 18, died when the ute he was driving collided with a truck which was headed east on the Gore Highway at Southbrook on June 28.
Ahead of their match against West Panthers, the Wallaroos players stood shoulder to shoulder, remembering their mate.
The Wallaroos A grade side and reserve grade side were both defeated in Bundaberg on the weekend but the tribute still made the match one to remember.
Wallaroos president Scott Robertson said Lachlan had been a junior player with the club, but more than that, he had been a friend and mate to many.
“The boys wanted to do something,” he said,
“We wanted to let the family know we’re thinking of them.”
Lachlan’s funeral will be held on July 9 from 1pm at the Heritage Chapel at Maryborough Crematorium.
