REPORTS that ex-tropical cyclone Freda could hit over or above Fraser Island have been dismissed by the Bureau of Meterology.
The cyclone threat has since been downgraded and a bureau forcaster said there was next to zero chance of the ex-tropical cyclone hitting near the coast.
He said the ex-tropical cyclone was currently near New Caledonia and was not likely to cause any problems for the island or the Fraser Coast.
Sunshine Coast Daily Coastlife forecaster Mike Perry said weather models from the US showed the system taking a big turn on Sunday and heading straight towards Fraser.
