The location had to change after wet weather, but in the end it went off without a hitch, with thousands turning out for Maryborough’s Christmas celebrations.
Maryborough’s Carols in the Park event, due to be held in Queens Park on Saturday, was instead moved to the new green space opposite City Hall and the Woolworths car park.
Fraser Coast councillor Paul Truscott said the grounds in Queens Park had been too wet to bring in the equipment needed for the event.
“The Maryborough Carols in the Park event is one of my favourite annual events in Maryborough,” he said.
“It’s so great that the weather has held out, a beautiful clear evening to enjoy the celebration.
“With the change of location due to the poor weather earlier this week has shown us how great this location is in the car park and making use of this space, with the city hall and Christmas tree as a beautiful backdrop.
“Thanks so much to the Maryborough Ministers Fellowship and all the wonderful volunteers and sponsors that have made this event possible.
“Merry Christmas everyone.”
