A home in Maryborough’s industrial area has been completely destroyed after being engulfed in flames.
Plumes of smoke could be seen billowing across the city as a result of the blaze, which was reported just before 5pm Friday, July 14.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the one storey timber home, located near the intersection of March Ln and Bowen St, was fully involved by the time emergency services arrived.
Police and paramedics are also at the scene.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze around 6.15pm but remain on scene dampening the area.
Some residents have described the home as “derelict” and said homeless people often slept there.
It is the second fire to engulf a home in the Wide Bay region in as many days, following the tragic death of a woman at Woolooga after her house was destroyed in an inferno overnight.
