AS THE Fraser Coast prepares for the local government elections and the referendum on March 19, I would like to remind the residents on Fraser Island that there will be no election booth on the island.
For residents on the island to have their say on who they wish to be their Councillor for Division 7 and the Fraser Coast Mayor, they will need to apply for a postal vote to have their say.
I have arranged for a number of postal vote applications to be available at Eurong Resort, Happy Valley Resort, The Cathedrals and Orchid Beach.
Postal votes are also available on line through the Queensland Electoral Commission or you can call the commission on 1300 881 665.
Completed applications can be emailed to cpvgeneral@ecq.qld.gov.au or faxed to (07) 3036 5778, but the commission reminds you that ballot information cannot be emailed or faxed, but must be mailed back in the envelope provided.
Applications must be received at the ECQ by 7pm on Wednesday March 16, 2016.
