Drivers reminded to stick to speed limits on Fraser Island

VISITORS to Fraser Island are being reminded to drive safely this upcoming holiday period and stick to the speed limits on the beaches.

Drivers are being reminded that road rules apply on Fraser Island beaches so they should stick to speed limits, wear seatbelts and not drink and drive.

National Parks Minister Steve Dickson said drivers needed to stick to the speed limit on Queensland's national park beaches this summer.

"I want as many Queensland families as possible to enjoy a drive on one of our beach parks these holidays, however it's important to remember to take the proper precautions," he said.

"The first thing to remember is that road rules also apply on the beach, so keep to the speed limits, wear seatbelts and don't drink and drive.

"It's also important to drive to the conditions and check your tyre pressure as you drive on and off the sand."
