VISITORS to Fraser Island are being reminded to drive safely this upcoming holiday period.

National Parks Minister Steve Dickson said drivers needed to stick to the speed limit on Queensland's national park beaches this summer.

"I want as many Queensland families as possible to enjoy a drive on one of our beach parks these holidays, however it's important to remember to take the proper precautions," he said.

"The first thing to remember is that road rules also apply on the beach, so keep to the speed limits, wear seatbelts and don't drink and drive.

"It's also important to drive to the conditions and check your tyre pressure as you drive on and off the sand."

Full details of Queensland's parks, including some of the state's most popular pristine beaches, are available on the National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing website at nprsr.qld.gov.au.
