Drive safe on sand because 'beaches are not highways'

DRIVERS are being urged to take care when travelling on Fraser Coast beaches this summer.

DRIVERS are being urged to take care when travelling on Fraser Coast beaches this summer.

National Parks Minister Steven Miles said drivers need to pay attention.

"Beaches are not highways - people fish, swim, play games and children run along them so drivers must be on alert," Dr Miles said.

"Drivers must keep to the speed limits, wear seatbelts (and) not drink and drive."
