Dramatic rescue as man winched off trawler near K’gari
The rescue chopper retrieved a man off a vessel east of K’gari and did what they could for him while flying him to the Hervey Bay Hospital.

A man has been winched from a trawler in the Coral Sea just east of K’gari after he suffered chest pains.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper was called into action at 11.20am on Sunday, and flew to the vessel in the Coral Sea just east of K’gari.
The patient, aged in his 20s, was suffering chest pains and required immediate medical assistance.
The rescue crew officer was winched down onto the back deck of the trawler.
The patient was prepared in a harness, then lifted from the vessel into the rescue chopper.
The man was treated in the chopper by the RACQ LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic before being flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
