A DRAMATIC photo has emerged of the tour bus that caught fire on Fraser Island yesterday.
An observer sent in the photo of the smoking, burnt-out shell of the bus with flames still visible in the undercarriage.
The 24 passengers onboard were all safely evacuated before the fire took hold.
The visitors were on a Fraser Explorer Tour when the bus caught fire about 1km south of the Maheno shipwreck.
Fraser Explorer Tours management said the cause of the fire was unknown and a full investigation would be conducted.
The fire was first noticed by the driver.
He saw smoke coming from the engine and evacuated the passengers to safety.
Group general manager David Hay praised the driver's quick thinking and actions, and said staff members would liaise with passengers involved to organise refunds.
The fire began at about 11am yesterday.
