A MEMBER of the Save the Fraser Island Dingoes group is urging tourists to take extra care after a dingo was run over and killed.
Cheryl Bryant said the eight-month-old male dingo was struck by a vehicle near Eurong on Good Friday, and died just after rangers reached the scene.
Ms Bryant said there were no witnesses to the incident.
Ms Bryant said the necropsy report showed that the dingo's spleen had been ruptured as a result of the crash.
The dingo had a sister and Mr Bryant said the group was trying to get updates on her wellbeing.
"We've had one sighting since her brother was killed," Ms Bryant said.

She said the juvenile dingo was tagged and had a collar that would allow rangers to monitor it as it had been aggressive on previous occasions.
Ms Bryant said the high volume of visitors to the island over the Easter break could have contributed to the death of the dingo.
"You see the island over the break and it's like a super highway," she said.
