A new photo booth experience has arrived on the Fraser Coast.
Digital Image Kiosk is keeping up with the times by transforming the original photo booth experience to a virtual concept which people can hire for events.
The service is event manager Sharon Philp’s latest business venture, who has 25 years’ experience running her own companies.
The idea was inspired by friends and family being able to take photos at events, without being huddled too close together, particularly in Covid times.

Unlike the old-school photo booths with curtains, props, printed photos and a small enclosed space, Digital Image Kiosk is completely virtual.
While the photo concept is not the first of its kind on the Fraser Coast, Ms Philp said her kiosk received great feedback when it launched at a Melbourne Cup event in early November.
More than 180 photos were taken in four hours.
“No one wants to put things up to their faces anymore or put hats on,” Ms Philp said.
“It’s a really great space to be able to spread out, get a bigger group in, rather than being all squeezed in.
“You can still get the same experiences, and actually I think even better experiences because of the options that you have in regard to your photo experience you have on the night.”

The “user friendly” machine allows people to get creative with photo layouts, virtual props, GIFs and Boomerangs.
“It’s that next stage of where the photo booth is heading into the future,” Ms Philp said.
The photo machine can be hired for a variety of events including school formals, milestone birthdays, weddings and business functions.
Transferring photos from the machine to a phone is also easy via airdrop, text or email.
Even if the internet is patchy at the location of the event, Ms Philp said the photos are stored on the machine and would be sent to people once an internet connection restores.
There’s no photo limit, and the event host will receive a copy of all the images that are taken on the day.
Hiring the machine, which can service events in Hervey Bay and Maryborough, is a simple process with the booth being dropped off for the start of the event and picked up the next day.
While this is the first trial of Digital Image Kiosk, Ms Philp said it used the latest software and hoped to one day bring on-board more machines.
“I’d really like to be able to offer it more widely in the future,” she said.
For an additional cost, customers have the option to customise the outside wrap of the machine based on the theme of their event.
Ms Philp is also looking to donate the machine to use at charity events.
