Counterfeit cash: Man arrested after fake notes used at Maryborough businesses

Police have charged the man with multiple counts of possession of counterfeit currency, using counterfeit currency and fraud.

A man has been arrested after a spate of incidents in which counterfeit money was used at Maryborough businesses.

Officers from Maryborough Police Station charged the man with multiple counts of possession of counterfeit currency, using counterfeit currency and fraud.

The man was arrested after a search warrant was executed on a Kent Street address in Maryborough on August 8.

The man allegedly purchased the counterfeit currency and presented the notes at a number of Maryborough businesses between August 8 and August 10.

Police conducted inquiries in relation to the use of the notes and, as a result, conducted the search warrant at a Kent Street address where they located further counterfeit notes.

A 22-year-old Maryborough man is due to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on August 24.
