Council vote for Urangan Pier Markets to be held every week

URANGAN’S Pier Park Markets can now be held every week after councillors passed a motion to amend the permit.

URANGAN'S Pier Park Markets can now be held every week after councillors passed a motion to amend the permit.

Urangan councillor George Seymour moved to extend the Pier Park Market's permit to allow them to be held each Saturday, rather than only on the first, third and fifth Saturday.

Cr Seymour said the markets were an iconic part of Hervey Bay and listed the projects the council had undertaken to improve the area.

Councillor Stuart Taylor raised an issue with the Pier Markets being held every Saturday, instead suggesting a blanket approach for all of the region's markets.

The vote to hold the markets was passed 8-3 with councillors Darren Everard, Stuart Taylor and David Lewis opposing it due to the affect it may have on other markets such as Torquay.
