UPDATE: Council chief executive Lisa Desmond is delighted at the extension of her contract and believes a lot has been achieved for the community.
"Over the past three years my role has been challenging and rewarding and I believe we have achieved a lot for the community," she said.
Ms Desmond said some of the major achievements included:
- Completion of the $4.9 million Hervey Bay Community Centre
- Completion of the $6.5 million Maryborough Aquatic Centre project
- Completion of the $5 million Fraser Coast Cultural Centre
- $22 million Building Better Regions Funding Program
"I am also proud of the recent infrastructure incentives policy which was introduced to stimulate the Fraser Coast economy and attract investment," she said.
"A stable and vibrant community helps to attract developments such as the expansion of St Stephens Hospital, Stockland and impending extension of Station Square.
"Without the support of staff in my role as chief executive officer, we would not be able to achieve the outcomes that we do as a council.
"We will continue to work hard as a council in delivering affordable community services and building business confidence in the region through strong relationships with business and industry and I look forward to the next four years in continuing to build on our achievements."
