A popular Mexican food chain is set to open a Hervey Bay franchise in August – and the top job is still up for grabs.
Guzman y Gomez has confirmed both a restaurant and a drive-through will be built in the Bay.
The council granted approval on Christmas Eve.
The new eatery will go on the 1710sq m block next to Bunnings and Hungry Jacks on Main St, Pialba.
The site has been owned by Jaykala Pty Ltd since 2010.
A statement from GYG on Thursday evening confirmed the company was planning to build more than 30 new restaurants in the next 12 months, with Hervey Bay one of the five chains now available to potential franchisees.
GYG founder and chief executive Steven Marks said franchisees were usually on a waitlist for two years or more before locations were made available.
“So I’m really proud to make these five restaurants available to young entrepreneurs wanting to make their mark on the world,” he said.
“Seeing our current franchisees build their businesses, growing their teams and watching them succeed is what drives us and these five new GYG locations are exceptional opportunities.
“We want exceptional franchisees in these areas who want to serve the best fast food in some of the best locations in regional Australia, so if anyone is interested in owning their own GYG, they should get in touch.”
