THE body of Inky the dingo will not be returned to the Butchulla who held him dear.
When the dingo was culled due to reports of aggressive behaviour, Butchulla elder Aunty Mally Clarke said she wanted the remains of her beloved camp dog returned for burial.
The Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing confirmed yesterday this would not happen.
Ross Belcher, the area manager for Fraser Coast with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, said the dingo was already buried.
"Dingoes which have been humanely destroyed on Fraser Island are buried in accordance with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service protocols," he said.
