After years of searching for the perfect location, a new fish and chip shop has opened on the Fraser Coast.
Seaside Takeaway Hervey Bay arrived at 424 the Esplanade, Torquay, on November 1, and has already been a hit.
The store is owned by Brennan and Sharna Edgar who live in Victoria, and managed by Ashlee Dockery.
The space was formerly occupied by TKs Seafood and Takeaway which closed in early 2022.
Other new hospitality businesses have also arrived on the Esplanade, including La Bella Italia Pizzeria and Bar Soma in Scarness.
Having worked at Hervey Bay’s Maddigans Fish and Chips for eight years, Ms Dockery is no stranger to the seafood industry.
Ms Dockery, along with Mr and Mrs Edgar, have been searching for the perfect space for a takeaway store for years.
“It’s always been in the making for the last six years, but we could never find the right location,” Ms Dockery said.
“So then when this became available, we were like yes we’ve got to have it.”
Items on the menu include fresh salads and sandwiches, chicken and steak burgers, souvlaki and fresh and cooked seafood.
“After Christmas we will be having other specials like lasagnes, chicken parmis ... just to be a bit different,” Ms Dockery said.
Leading up to the festive season, the store will be taking Christmas orders towards late November.
At the moment, Ms Dockery said they were training their team of about 20 staff members.
“It has been busier than we expected,” she said.
Seaside Takeaway Hervey Bay is open from 10am-8pm daily.
