THE newly refurbished Hervey Bay Golf Club hosted its official opening on Friday to show off its new interior look.
The six-month renovation of what is now called The Club House Hervey Bay was paid for by Hervey Bay RSL Services and Memorial Club and cost just more than $1 million.
The update to the clubhouse now includes a dedicated children's area, and can fit up to 200 people - 120 more than previously.
Golf club president John Macleod-Paterson said the upgraded clubhouse was a sign of good things to come for the relationship between the golf club and the Services and Memorial Club.
"Our furniture started to look drab," he said.
"We needed an upgrade but at the time we didn't have enough money to do so.
"The RSL has a 20-year lease here, and this upgrade has secured our financial future."
Hervey Bay RSL Services and Memorial Club president Ray Eustace said the new clubhouse was something Pialba would benefit from.
"It will be good to have a services and memorial club on this side of town," he said.
