We asked who the best hairdresser on the Fraser Coast was and you told us!

For the second time running the winner of Fraser Coast’s best hairdresser as voted by you is

Tash Kruse.

The Maryborough mum of two runs her business Tash’s Hair House from a specially designed home salon which she added to her property about five years ago.

Her girls, Saydee 7 and Kylee 1, have “grown up” in a hairdressing environment and occasionally sit in the salon while Tash works.

Tash told the Chronicle it was a great feeling to know her clients thought she was the best on the Fraser Coast, with her eldest daughter even making a song about her hair skills.

“I think (Saydee) is pretty proud of me, she tells people that I’m the best hairdresser and even made up a song about it,” Tash said.

So, what makes a hairdresser the best?

Tash, who’s been in the industry for about 12 years, said it was “not just about doing someone’s hair”.

“I like making people feel good on a different level … a lot of people have (things) going on in their lives, they usually leave feeling actually happier, because they've talked with me about it all,” she said.

“I have a lot of friendships with my clients … it’s on a personal level for me, it’s not just a hair appointment.”

The natural brunette said she’s had “well over 10” different styles on her own hair and currently rocks about four different colours.

“I‘ve been purple and turquoise, I’ve had the roots turquoise and I’ve been copper, I’ve been red, I’ve been just blonde,” she said.

Tash, who “fell into” a hairdressing career now wouldn’t do anything else and is continuously booked out for months in advance.

“I love talking to people, I don‘t even feel like I’m working half the time,” she said.

“I love being creative, doing blondes and bright colours … I like to take it slowly and look after people‘s hair, I don’t just trash it.

“I always explain myself before about the processes and what we’re doing and why we’re doing it that way, because I know, when I was younger, I was going blonde for the first time and I freaked out because it was yellow!”
