Beautiful Fraser Island makes top 100 Australian experiences

FRASER Island has something in common with the Simpson Desert and Brisbane's Woodford Folk Festival.
But it is not the scorching heat in summer or visits by throngs of energetic visitors looking for a good-time.
Instead, the island's Great Walk hike shares pride of place in the Australian Traveller's Top 100 "most incredible" experiences in Australia.
The magazine's editor Lara Picone said the world's largest sand island had always been a popular travel destination for readers, past surveys had found.
"We want readers to put Fraser Island on their bucket list, because it is such an authentic site of Australia," she said.
The 100 destinations were not ranked but all took equal footing. While New South Wales had the most destinations listed, Queensland and Western Australia tied for second place.
