A man has been accused of touching his teenage stepdaughter’s breast and exposing himself to her

A school coordinator was told of the alleged incident and the police were called, the court was told.

A trial has begun in Maryborough District Court after a man pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecent treatment of a child.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of touching the breast of his 15-year-old stepdaughter and then exposing his penis.

On Monday an opening statement was given by the prosecution outlining the allegations.

The court heard in November 2019, the man was accused of entering the girl’s bedroom in the early hours of the morning.

It’s alleged she woke up to find him standing over her, stroking her hair.

He then leaned down and kissed her forehead in what was described by the prosecution as “something of a peck”.

The defendant was then accused of touching the teenager’s breast for about five seconds before leaving the room.

The court heard the girl then went to the bathroom and upon coming out, saw her stepfather again.

It was alleged he whistled at her and exposed his penis.

The girl then allegedly woke her brother while crying and he helped her get into the bedroom where her mother was sleeping, which was locked.

The court heard that after waking her mother up and telling her what had happened, the mum locked the bedroom door.

In the morning, the girl had packed some belongings and left the home, later informing others of what she alleged had happened.

A school co-ordinator was told of the alleged incident and the police were called, the court was told.

The defence did not make an opening statement on Monday.

The testimony of those involved in the case is set to be heard in coming days as the trial continues.
