EX-BIKE George Bejat has pleaded guilty to being in Fortitude Valley to party a few hours shy of when his court-ordered ban from the precinct expired.

Described as a young man who likes to go clubbing, the former Bandidos Centro president had been set to contest the charge of contravening his banning order.

His lawyer Peter Shields told the Brisbane Magistrates Court that Bejat was picked up about 6.30pm on May 1 in the nightclub zone but left once he was told the order was still valid.

Bejat, 29, then returned after midnight to carry on clubbing.

“He honestly believed the order had expired,” Mr Shields said.

“He then left and came back at midnight.

“He’s young, he likes to go to the nightclub areas in the Valley area.”

Bejat was banned from the Brisbane CBD, Fortitude Valley and Caxton St until May 1, after a New Year’s incident where he threatened a security guard for which he was fined $600.

Mr Shields said Bejat was going to contest the banning order contravention charge but police prosecution had now put the “true facts” before the court.

Prosecutors asked for a fine.

Magistrate Tina Previtera noted Bejat’s history and recorded a conviction with no further punishment.
