Footage has emerged online of a car being struck by lightning while the driver was on a motorway in Brisbane.

The video, posted to Dash Cam owners Australia on Friday morning, showed the car’s antenna being struck by the bolt mid-trip.

“I was driving on the gateway motorway southbound near exit 97 in Brisbane, when one of the radio antennas on my ute was struck by lightning,” the Facebook submission said.

The video showed the white car driving along when a sudden spark could be seen coming from behind, images at the end of the video showed the antenna had been burnt to a crisp.
