Thieves target home on Brisbane's southside

Frightening footage has captured the moment a group of armed offenders targeted a property on Brisbane’s southside, just days after a spate of incidents in the same neighbourhood.

Stretton resident Taylah Douglas said she was getting ready for work on Tuesday morning when five boys broke into her family home and confronted her mother.

“We were awake getting ready for work … they were all carrying weapons,” Ms Douglas said.

“They walked straight into my mum’s room … she was naked getting ready (for work), she screamed at them and they all ran outside but unfortunately managed to find my car keys,” Ms Douglas said.

Police have confirmed they are investigating an incident that occurred in Washington Place, Stretton where “unknown offenders entered a home and were disturbed by occupants” about 6:10am.

“(The) offenders located keys and stole a 2006 black Suzuki Swift hatchback,” according to QPS. “A silver SUV was also observed acting suspiciously nearby and could be connected.”

It comes just days after police responded to an armed robbery in nearby Calamvale.

Unknown offenders entered a property and searched the home before threatening the occupant with a knife about 5pm on October 12.

The woman was physically uninjured.

The group stole multiple items before leaving the area in a black Toyota Corolla.

It is understood the vehicle was used in break ins, and attempted break ins at Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills, Chelmer and Algester between October 10 and 13.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

It is unclear whether the incident at Stretton is linked to the spate of break ins between October 10 and 13.
