FIRE crews have managed to control a blaze that caused extensive damage to a two-storey music store in Toowoomba on Monday night.
A Queensland Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said several trucks left the scene about 10.30pm on Monday night after the fire started at the International Music store on Ruthven and Union streets about 7pm.
Structural engineers were on site investigating the damage, with the roof having given way and the second storey completely destroyed.
Despite the large fire, emergency services said there was no one injured.
One fireman came dangerously close to serious injury when the windows exploded just after he was standing on a banister of the building.
The man was standing on the building when people yelled at him to get down, forcing him to climb on to a ladder as windows burst around him.
Emergency services said they received a call at 7.09pm alerting them to the fire and when they arrived on scene it was well involved.
Nearly 100m of Ruthven St was cordoned off by police.
A woman died earlier on Monday morning in southeast Toowoomba after her home was engulfed in flames.
