Police are investigating a suspicious house fire which ripped through a Morayfield property for the second time in a matter of months.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to a fire on Grant Rd about 9pm where a single-storey property was alight.
Four fire crews attended and managed to control the fire by 10.15pm, before putting it out at 10.45pm, but the property was completely destroyed.
Paramedics also attended but the home was unoccupied and no patients were reported on scene.
Naomi Parker, former tenant of the property, said she lost her mother’s ashes in the fire.
Ms Parker moved out of the property before it was put on the market, but said some of her belongings were still being stored inside.
“The neighbour called us and we drove straight there,” Ms Parker said.
“My whole bedroom and spare room had all of our personals, even my mum’s ashes are now all gone.
“I have lost my children’s pictures.
“It was so horrible but I am so grateful to be alive.”
Police have set up a crime scene around the area.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the property was unoccupied and the power was turned off. The fire is being treated as suspicious.
A fire ripped through the same house in August and left a woman in her 30s in hospital.
The woman had to climb through a window to escape the blaze and suffered an injury to her arm.
The property on Grant Rd was listed for sale earlier this month and has been on the market for just over a week.
The land includes two dwellings, a new brick property at the back and a run down house at the front of the block. The fire ripped through the front dwelling.
The property listing described it as a “blank canvas” for developers if the structure was removed.
Officers from the Caboolture Criminal Investigation Branch are appealing to members of the public for dash cam footage that may have captured anything suspicious in the area between 8.30pm and 9.15pm.
If you were travelling along Grant Rd between Caboolture River Rd and Torrens Rd around that time and you have dash cam footage, please contact police.
