Battle to save Rockhampton house after fire

Multiple fire crews are battling a “well involved” house fire in Central Queensland, the second in the area in just over 12 hours.

Emergency services, including paramedics, police and fire & emergency teams arrived on scene at Face Street, Park Avenue in Rockhampton’s north just before 1:30am Monday.

Three fire crews have been called to help contain the “well involved” fire, with the surrounding area cordoned off and all occupants of the building being accounted for.

The fire comes just over 12 hours after another fire was reported at Gracemere, just south of the city at 9pm Sunday night.

A neighbour reported hearing explosions before crews arrived at the Elizabeth St address, but it was later discovered to be a backyard fire inside a drum.

The fire was deemed to be suitably contained.
