Federal MP Llew O’Brien in hospital with fractured skull after motorbike crash
Queensland federal MP Llew O’Brien is recovering in hospital with skull and spinal fractures following a serious motorbike crash north of Brisbane.

Wide Bay Federal MP Llew O’Brien is in hospital with a fractured skull following a motorbike crash at Lakeside Park Raceway at Kurwongbah north of Brisbane.
The Federal MP spent the night in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after being transported from the raceway about 10am on Saturday.
Mr O’Brien posted on a personal social media account on Sunday morning to let friends and family know he was battered and bruised, but is ‘all good’.
“Had a good day on the bikes with William and Michael at Lakeside Raceway yesterday. Well mine wasn’t a full day after I overdid a section of the track and went down,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Bit of bruising, strains and soft tissue injuries, a fractured skull and vertebra for me. Going to have to wear a neck brace for the next 6 weeks (not sure how that’s going to go chairing parliament” he said.
“Other than that all good and should be out of hospital soon.”
Paramedics responded to the incident about 9.34am where they treated Mr O’Brien for chest and back pain.
He was in a stable condition.
On a lighter note, Mr O’Brien let friends know his bike was “fixable”.
Friends and family commented on the post, showing support and wishing a speedy recovery.
“Hope you have a full recovery Llew!” a friend said.
“OMG Llew no good. We don’t bounce anymore hope you recover ok xo,” another friend said.
“No rest for the wicked Llew! Have fun chairing parliament,” another friend added.
Mr O’Brien thanked health staff saying “the ambulance officers, ward staff, nurses and doctors at the Royal Brisbane Hospital are incredible. World class care by extremely professional people. A huge thank you to them all”.
