The three-time world surfing champion has been riding high a different wave – one of fatherhood – and has posted a touching tribute to the “spectacular” midwife who brought his son, Xander into the world.
Fanning and his wife shared their gratitude to “Mel” on Instagram today, calling the “beautiful” midwife a “truly spectacular … gentle soul”.
Fanning also dedicated a heartwarming post to his wife Breeana Randall with a series of photographs documenting her pregnancy.
“There’s always a silver lining,” he wrote.
“Mine was watching this beautiful woman grow my son! Every step of the way.
“Isolation ain’t so bad.”
Dean and Shaun Harrington – owners of the Mad Hueys brand – said Fanning and Randall would be the “best mummy and daddy in the world”, while Brisbane wakeboarding star Cory Teunissen whether the “little dude” would be a surfer.
Former NRL footballer Chris Walker and actor Lincoln Lewis also gushed over Fanning’s newborn son yesterday (Saturday).
Fanning has actively shared his elation of social media since Xander was born on Monday August 10.
“Hi, my name is Xander Dean Fanning and I came into the world on 10th August 2020 at 2:14pm. I weigh 3.31kg or 7.045lbs,” Fanning posted on Instagram on Wednesday.
“I’m extremely strong, healthy and calm all because of my beautiful Mama Breeana is a full on superhero.”
Randall praised the new father for his support through her pregnancy
“It was you all along mate. I dreamt of you always. We’re all doing so well and soaking in all the cuddles. I’ve fallen in love with you all over again @mfanno,” she posted.
“My rock, my support, my everything. Cheers to this beautiful journey with you my lover.”
