TV presenter’s ‘horrifying’ run-in with ‘eshays’

An Ipswich pub has all but banned eshays after releasing a list of prohibited clothing items which undeniably targets the youth subculture’s standard uniform.

Falvey’s Hotel Yamanto, which houses both a restaurant, beer garden, nightclub and gaming area proudly displays the list of restricted clothing on their website.

In the list hooded jumpers, bum bags, Nike TN’s, solid red shoes and shirts have been prohibited, clothing items all typically associated with the “Aussie eshay”.

The list, which has been posted to Reddit, has received mixed reviews online.

“That’s all of Ipswich who’s going to attend this venue now,” one commenter said.

“The war on Eshays continues,” said another.

”Why no red shirt? Is there a bull loose in there,” another said.

“Damn I picked up a pair of red Sketchers for $20 at an outlet lash week. Super comfortable. Looks like I won’t be visiting Ipswich anytime soon,” another commented.

Tradies have also been advised that their steel cap boots and hi-vis workwear are to be left it home after 7pm.

The list also states that those wearing “unfashionable thongs” will not be allowed into the venue with many asking, what counts as a fashionable thong.

“Do Birkenstocks count as unfashionable thongs, I’m confused,” one commenter said.

Hotel owner Michael Falvey said he supported his establishment’s controversial dress code.

“In our experience, the dress code that we have put in place, a certain clientele wears those clothes and we don’t wish for them to be a patron at our venue,” Mr Falvey said.

“As you would expect a man wearing a cowboy hat and some cowboy boots to be a cowboy, people who wear say Nike TN’s, bum bags and hoodies are a certain type of person and we don’t want them.

“They can change their shoes and have an applicable dress code and we will let them in, it’s as simple as that.”
