The usually disruptive activist group Extinction Rebellion adopted a more passive and peaceful approach to getting its message out on Sunday morning.
Some of the group’s older members chanted, sung and paraded banners outside Kenmore Village Shopping Centre.
The activists formed a “climate banner chain” and sung songs with words like “power to the people,” and “people have the power”, before being asked to move on by police.
Going live on Facebook, one member Geraldine discussed the importance of the peaceful protest, while another woman said she was there on behalf of future generations.
“I’m here for my grandchildren,” the woman said,” while another replied: “That seems to be a common theme, are you worried about their future?”
“Extremely worried for them, and for everyone else’s grand children.”
After being issued with a move along notice, the group took to the road outside the Kenmore shopping centre where they continued to peacefully protest.
