Extinction Rebellion protesters have disrupted traffic on one of Brisbane’s busiest roads this morning.
Protesters carrying banners with climate change messages stopped traffic on Sandgate Rd at Albion this morning.
The group described the action as a “7 minute swarm” to demand action on climate change.
“We’re here blocking traffic just for seven minutes, it’s a small inconvenience and price to pay when we are looking at mass extinction and complete climate collapse in the next few years,” one protestor said in a livestream.
“We can see how quickly people and the government can respond to a crisis such as covid ... we know that it is possible to draw down our carbon emissions and get to net-zero in our carbon emissions.”
A Queensland Police spokesman said no arrests were made.
