Shops, pubs and cafes are set to be open on reduced hours on Wednesday as Brisbane celebrates a day off for the Ekka public holiday.
Find out below with our list of services and stores still trading on Wednesday 14 August.
Shopping Centres
Westfield Chermside, Mt Gravatt, Westfield Carindale: 10:00am – 5:00pm.
Westfield North Lakes: 9:00am – 5:30pm
Westfield Helensvale: 9:00am – 5:30pm
Queens Plaza: 10:30am – 4:00pm
Macarthur Central: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Aspley Hypermarket, Sunnybank Plaza: 9:00am – 6:00pm
Uptown (previously The Myer Center): 10:00am – 5:00pm
Indooroopilly Shopping Centre: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Please note that some retailers may have different trading hours on the day.
Supermarkets
Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA may be open at reduced hours depending on individual stores and shopping centres.
Bottle Shops
Liquorland, BWS and Dan Murphy’s may be open at reduced hours depending on individual stores and shopping centres.
Public Transport
Public transport is one of the cheapest, easiest and most efficient ways to get to Ekka in 2024. With 50 cent public transport to the show.
Exhibition station remains closed this year due to Cross River Rail project works.
On Monday 12 and Wednesday 14 August public transport services will run differently due to Ekka public holidays.
On Wednesday 14 August, some services in South East Queensland will run to a Sunday/public holiday timetable for the Ekka public holiday.All schedules are in the journey planner, so please plan your travel and check for service updates.
Most buses that operate in the Brisbane City Council area will run to a Sunday/public holiday timetable.
Buses that operate outside of Brisbane City Council area, such as Gold Coast, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast Councils, will run to a normal weekday timetable.
School services may operate to a different schedule. Please check with your child’s school or school bus delivery partner for more information.
Australia Post
Some Post Offices may be open depending on local arrangements. Make sure to double check your local branch before heading out.As is usual for state, regional and local public holidays, no local mail or parcel deliveries will take place, including Express post.
