Earthquake recorded in Queensland’s south

An earthquake measuring 3.1 has been recorded near Gatton this morning.

How do earthquakes occur?

AN earthquake measuring 3.1 has been recorded near Gatton in Queensland’s south.

Geoscience Australia said the quake hit about 3.25am and reached a depth of 6km.

The epicentre was about 16km northwest of Gatton, which is about 90km west of Brisbane.

There have been reports the quake was felt by residents but no damage has been reported.
