Driver trapped for hours after truck and car collide head-on in Lockyer Valley

A man who was trapped in the wreckage of a horror head-on smash between a truck and car west of Brisbane has been flown to hospital in a critical condition.

A MAN is fighting for life after a horror head-on smash between a car and truck west of Brisbane.

The male driver of the car was trapped in the crash wreckage for more than two hours after the collision on Gatton-Clifton Rd, Mt Whitestone, in the Lockyer Valley.

Three Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews attended the crash and worked to free the man, whose legs were pinned in the wreckage.

He also suffered serious leg and abdominal injuries, and was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a critical condition.

A passenger in the car was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition while the truck driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Gatton-Clifton Rd was closed in both directions but has since reopened.
