THE mother of two victims from the Dreamworld Thunder River Rapids disaster has spoken of her frustration after the conclusion of an inquest into the tragedy.

After more than six weeks of evidence across six months, the inquest finally ended on Friday, with families now facing a wait of several months before Coroner James McDougall delivers his findings.

Speaking to The Sunday Mail, Kim Dorsett, who lost her daughter Kate Goodchild and son Luke Dorsett in the 2016 tragedy, said the evidence at the inquest had been both shocking and frustrating.

The accident also claimed the lives of NSW mother Cindy Low and Mr Dorsett’s partner Roozi Araghi, a man Ms Dorsett considered another son.

“What makes the loss of these four wonderful people so overwhelming is that this could have been avoided,” she said.

“It appears to be a series of ‘not my job’, ‘I didn’t know’ or ‘I didn’t think’ that the conveyor belt … would be so deadly.

“We now have three loving mothers without their children and four children without their mum.

“Theme parks are always meant to be places of joy and laughter.

“Let’s make them safe again.”
