The incident was first reported around 2.40pm, with paramedics and fire rescue crews racing to the scene.

It is believed the woman fell about 2m.

A spinal board was used as a precaution while rescuers worked to bring the woman to safety.

Queensland Ambulance’s Gold Coast Senior Operations Supervisor Paul Young said that the woman got stuck in a crevice after trying to rescue someone else.

“The patient had crossed the fence because some young people were screaming on the rock wall”

“She thought that they were injured and has climbed the fence to help, and has in fact become a patient.”

There were no other reported injuries.

Mr Young urged hikers to follow the track while in the park.

“If there’s a sign there that says don’t cross the fence, please adhere to it,” he said.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with head and shoulder injuries.
