The Priory at Indooroopilly in Brisbane’s west is continuing to rewrite history with only three of the 12 apartments remaining for sale and construction due for completion in January next year.
The site spans almost 2.5ha and includes the original river-facing homestead, the heritage-listed Priory House built in the early 1880s, which has a commanding presence in the heart of the development.
A new building will house the luxurious apartments with premium finishes and state-of-the-art amenities including a pool and steam room, taking advantage of stunning river views.

The existing four-bedroom heritage home is being immaculately renovated featuring modern and classic themes, with impressive and elegant finishes.
Pitman Properties director Paul Pitman said the development was rich in history.
“The Priory’s grand presence and elevated position right on the Brisbane River, and its unmatched level of luxury are at the heart of its appeal,” he said.
“It’s a site that’s rich in history, and the way that history has been respectfully honoured further adds to the character and uniqueness of this opportunity to invest.
“We’re finding that new owners are drawn to the history and the fact that the development has been inspired by its notable past.
“They are also taken with the fact that the design pays homage to a very refined and modern future.
“The Priory residences are styled with the finest inclusions and it’s evident that no expense has been spared.
“Each residence boasts an astonishing 300sq m of prime living space, architecturally designed to frame the river view. They give their new owners ample room to write the next chapter in their own history.
“A secure private entry, floor-to-ceiling glazing, the latest in European appliances, fully-ducted airconditioning, an infinity-edge swimming pool, and indulgent steam room are just the beginning.
“The three remaining residences are amongst the most striking within the development, with two built into the side of the hill and offering sweeping river views.”
Mr Pitman said interest in the remaining apartments was very high.
The homestead was once the residence of Australian politician, barrister, soldier and Queensland Historical Society founder, Colonel JFG Foxton, and his family.
“The Priory is evidence of Indooroopilly’s status as an elite, riverside residential suburb,” Mr Pitman said.
Earlier this year, builder Terry Gillam said while the architecture was “quite different”, the layout of each apartment was inspired by the Priory’s spacious internal flow to the outdoors.
“It was a family home but generous in all degrees,” he said.
“We could have put any type of units on this site but our whole philosophy … was ‘move into the Priory and you get a little bit of history as well’ – and you join with that heritage.”
Owners can also learn from the practicality of the property as the home didn’t need airconditioning.
“We can just open up all the doors and the windows onto the veranda and it cools the house down naturally,” Mr Gillam said.
