Tributes have flowed for Brisbane performer Jamie Wood following his shock death, with thousands raised for the 31-year-old’s family.

A GoFundMe page has raised more than $12,000 in one day, with tributes flowing across Brisbane’s LGBTQI+ community for Mr Wood.

Talia McLachlan, who organised the fundraiser said the funds would go to supporting his family through this time.

“This has been a shock to Jamie’s family and we want to help them any way we can to help them give Jamie the farewell he deserves,” she wrote.

“He has brought so much joy and happiness into the hearts of everyone he knows. Any little bit helps and is greatly appreciated.”

Friends on social media have shared their favourite memories with the performer, with one describing him as “impossible to hate.”

“I was always so jealous of his life: he had the perfect face and body, he got to travel and perform constantly around every corner of the world as he pleased, but he was a phenomenal dancer and deserved every bit of success he got,” James Taylor wrote.

Tyler Gadson said Mr Wood was “deeply loved and greatly missed.”

“ You were honestly a big brother that I never wanted but needed in my life. I’m glad I got to share some of the best moments of my life with you,” he wrote.

“I wish I got to see you and hug you one more time.”
