Five kids have been left without their mum after a 29-year-old Kogan woman was killed in a devastating crash in Bowenville.

Brooke Holder tragically died in a truck and car collision along the Warrego Highway near Newton Stephen Road about 8.30am Friday morning.

Ms Holder, from Kogan on the Western Downs, was travelling as a passenger in the Holden Commodore when the car she was in collided with a truck.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, sustained serious injuries to his arms and legs, and was flown to the PA Hospital by LifeFlight in a critical condition.

Ms Holder was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

Her mother Ruth Deuble said her relatives have been left shattered following her death, saying Ms Holder “lived for her family”.

“She was just such a beautiful person, who has done everything for us,” Mrs Deuble said.

“Brooke was always there for her family, and was just our everything.

“I’m just heartbroken love.”

Mrs Deuble said Ms Holder will leave behind five children.

“Brooke was just a beautiful mother, and never stopped in her life, she was always doing something,” Mrs Deuble said.

“When Dalby police called us today, I just crumbled.

“The whole family is in pieces right now.”

Ms Holder was in the process of moving close to her mother in Victoria, but now Mrs Deuble said she will have to travel to Dalby to formally identify her daughter’s body.

Dalby police senior constable Brad Davidson said preliminary investigations indicated the Commodore veered onto the wrong side of the road before colliding with a truck.

“The road marking suggest it was on the wrong side of the road (for the Commodore) and the truck driver has done his best to avoid it,” senior constable Davidson said.

“But he has braked significantly prior to the impact.”

The incident occurred near the intersection of the Warrego Highway and Newton Stephen Road, Bowenville, about 10 minutes east of Dalby.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services officer on scene told the Dalby Herald that firefighters used the jaws of life to assist two people entrapped in a vehicle.

She said the 35-year-old man was able to be extracted and put into the care of paramedics and LifeFlight staff, but the 29-year-old woman was pronounced deceased before firefighters were able to extract them.

The driver of the truck involved in the two-vehicle crash, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Dalby Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Both directions of traffic on the Warrego Highway were closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, and has appealed for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with dashcam footage of either vehicle before the crash, to contact police.
