AS THE votes for Warrego continue to come in, two candidates have shared how they’re feeling.

Incumbent LNP member Ann Leahy is feeling quietly confident about her chances tonight.

“I’ve been around this seat for a long, long time and I was here when it was won by 96 votes by the LNP,” she said.

“I think there’s something wrong if you do go into an election overconfident, I think you always have to be sensitive to people and how people often change their vote too.”

While she found it hard to gauge the feedback from voters, she said there’s been a substantial pre-poll turnout.

Ms Leahy said there will be five counting stations in Dalby and three in Roma, and the postal votes could take up to 10 days to come through.

She also scrutineered the closing of the ballot boxes.

“I also had to authorise myself to scrutineer for myself,” she said.

Katter’s Australian Party candidate Rick Gurnett said he’s been getting good feedback from voters and feels like many are supportive of his cause.

“Feedback I’m hearing is they really like where the Katter party’s going,” he said.

“It is, it’s very good to have the support.”

He believes over 20,000 people across the Warrego electorate already voted in pre-poll, hence why it’s been slow at some of the polling booths.

But he did raise the concern of many people not receiving their postal vote.

Mr Gurnett’s been spending the day in Dalby, and his son and daughter are volunteering out the front of the Roma RSL booth today.
