TSBE's October evening a bitter-sweet event

TSBE's Enterprise Evening for October in Dalby saw two board members step down and new members appointed.

THE Surat and Toowoomba business communities came together for Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise's October Enterprise Evening, last night.

Businesses from across the region flocked to Dalby League Club for an evening of networking and learning.

As the hosting mayor, Western Downs Regional mayor Paul McVeigh discussed the positives the region was experiencing, and the need to continue working to better the region.

"We need to forget about those boundaries,” Cr McVeigh said.

The highlight of the night was a presentation by Arrow Energy's chief operating officer Ivan Tan on the gas company's operations within the Surat region.

The evening was bitter sweet with news of TSBE board members Joe Wagner and John Moncrieff resigning after nearly a decade of combined service between the pair.

TSBE Chairman Shane Charles said the two community stalwarts had consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty during their tenure.

"Both these directors have brought extensive business acumen to our boardroom table for many years and we know that the contribution they have made has led to TSBE's recognition by the Regional Australia Institute and others as one of the leading economic development organisations in the country,” Mr Charles said.

"We would like to thank and acknowledge them both for their service and wish them all the best as they devote their skills and experience to their other pursuits.”

Mr Wagner said TSBE was stronger than ever, and would continue to provide a vital service to the region.

"TSBE is such an exciting enterprise that offers such a great amount of opportunity to the region and the state,” Mr Wagner said.

"I have witnessed the achievement over the past three years which has been absolutely terrific, and I look forward to seeing the new board take that a step further.

"It has been an honour to be a part of TSBE.”

Several new board members were also announced at yesterday's event, including Tom McVeigh of Murdoch Lawyers, Ian Macfarlane of Woodside Petroleum, April Cavanagh of Suncrop Bank and Peter Lock of Heritage Bank.
